Attending a class on Wyoming Water Rights sponsored by the Wyoming Chapter of the Realtors Land Institute, on June 3rd, 2024 in Cheyenne, the instructor, John Barnes brought up a new statute passed by the Wyoming Senate regarding prescriptive easements for water conveyance. This has historically been a point of contention between neighbors. In Wyoming it is often the case where the ditch, canal or pipeline which delivers irrigation water to a property does not originate on that owner’s land. The new statute below addresses this issue.
